Arne Høyland, who was a consultant for the municipality in this work, made a report, in collaboration with Bjarne Øvredal. There it was documented that the cabin could be saved and repaired as a cultural monument.
The cabin owner Finn Øvredal, son of Fredrik, then decided to start the restoration work.
