“The botnahytta" was largely overdue when restoration work began. This was mainly due to the strong decay that the cabin has stood with what was probably an undertaking in the first place.
The oldest pictures of the cabin show what appears to have been a table roof as an overlay over the original ceiling table panel with cardboard that has yet to be preserved under new cardboard cover. This ceiling had no protrusions on the upside and thus provided the timber with fresh water throughout the year. The roofing itself must have blown off in the early 50's or so. In addition, the cardboard cover has blown off and been damaged periodically. This has caused major damage also in roofs and partly in hills.
