In celebration of the liberation day and Veterans Day on May 8, 2016, Malvin Samnøy (TH) and Kåre Johnsen, both over 90 years, awarded the Government the Memorial Medal of Deputy Mayor Marie Bruarøy. Marie and a friend sang "to the youth" to karane after the award
